Description and Applications

BLUE-ARC 16 is a smooth running, basis low hydrogen electrode, developed for all positional (except vertical down) welding, using AC or DC power sources. The thin coating allows good manipulation in joints with restricted area and because of the ability to operate on low currents.

Low spatter levels and slag is easily removed the electrode features. BLUE-ARC 16 is the ideal hydrogen controlled electrode for welding carbon, carbon manganese and low allow high strength steels used in a multitude of critical and non critical applications. This electrode can be used for one side welding of pipe and general butt joints of carbon steel and high tensile steel.

Reconditioning Recommendations

For the maintenance of the “H10 and low hydrogen categories. The electrode should be rebake for maximum of 2 hours @ 300°C (570°F) in a vented oven and thereafter use from a hot box set at 100-120°C (210 – 250°F). Cardboard packs of BLUE-ARC 16 may lose their designated hydrogen status due to moisture re-absorption from the poor storage environments. Where electrodes have been exposed to moisture or where hydrogen control is important, the above procedures are recommended for recondition.
